Analysis of Fantasy

Roshni Das 2004 (India)

Dark night of deserted silence with mole of mist,
Inspite at cold bitter night, vampires don't exist.
Broken street lights, but no howl of werewolf..
When the moon rose on sky's canopy roof.
If they existed, filching of mermaids' tails ;
Peeling of merfolks' scales,
Pegasus would've lost their wings;
From this greedy world fortunate of these mythical things.
Evil and virtue alike to day and night,
Creeping basilisk can kill you by eyesight;
Lernean hydra's weapon their poisoned blood;
A goblin's strength is just hard thud.

Fairytales, legends, myths are pie in the sky
These monsters these creatures never left my mind.
We keep them alive while e fantasize,
For me they act like a histamine.

For us, they are a Fantasy;
For them, are we a fantasy?

About this poem

It's about Mythical creatures and Greek mythology. We know that they don't exist but they're alive in our subconscious mind. We see them in our inner eyes and we realise that how fortunate we are to have them. How magical our planet was. But the saddest part is they can't be in our greedy world.
