Analysis of Craving Love

Anuruk Suriyaarachchi 2003 (Sri Lanka)

Locked is the fruitful land by the firing sword.
Is Havilah the land where my grandeur stands?
It's neither bdellium nor onyx stones have
Made up my shining rib bright in pure gold

Under the shade by the river Pishon we shall be
Tasting Nelli fruit from the tree that was at the center
O darling, let's stop playing hide and seek
I'm very tired of chasing, chasing after you

I ain't the false grandma sleeping for you.
I ain't the monster under the bed to gobble
Never made a hutch to keep you tied in
It's your tender lover dreaming about you

Drank all the wine, and no more in the chalice
It's top of the world but only for a one-night stand
Please, be the healing pill to cure me sooner
Please say not 'NO' to my craving romance

About this poem

This is a poem about a male lover who craves for the love of the woman that he has fallen in love with. He expresses the hard nature of life, what his treasure is apart from what costs most with aid of the story of Adam and Eva(Genesis 2-3). 'Nelli' here, represents the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil. He also states that he's not a sort of an abuser or anyone who's a cripple denoting that he's not the False Grandma mentioned in both 'False Grandma'(Italian Folk Story) and 'Little Red Riding Hood and so on.
