Analysis of A Little Life
Yongkai Y Phom 1994 (Nagaland)
I died a little today,
An inch closer I have walked to my edge.
A day lived yesterday, a little I died yesterday.
Closer I'm to see my days of edge.
I played my role a little today,
a script, a chapter or perhaps a page I have acted.
A tragedy it was yesterday,
Today was a little comedy, a little smile for me to enact.
when the curtain draws tomorrow
I'm scared a little of the uncertain of my role,
Have I prepared enough for morrow?
But t'is I knoweth me alone can play that role.
I know not my script for tomorrow
But I died a little today,
and little I will die tomorrow
Perhaps I should have lived a little more today.

About this poem
The poetry is about an everyday life where we fail to acknowledge our gift of life. We get engrossed with so much activities that we fail to live and appreciate little things in life.
