Analysis of Trusting God Alone
Richard Newton Sherrer 1951 (Easton)
For God alone my soul awaits,
In silence comes my salvation;
And open the heavenly gates,
Who made me a new creation.
For He is my rock and fortress,
I shall not be greatly shaken;
In my trials when in distress,
Knowing not to be forsaken.
How long will foes attack a man,
Batter him like a leaning wall;
And what is their ultimate plan,
Tottering fence about to fall.
They only plan to thrust him down,
Taking pleasure in their falsehood;
Inwardly they have cursed the crown,
On the place that the righteous stood.
For my soul awaits for the Lord,
Waiting in silence with my hope;
I know that I am not ignored,
As I tolerate as I cope.
He is my fortress and my rock,
I shall not be shaken or moved;
For in my defense He will walk,
Reassuring that has behooved.
On the Lord rests my salvation,
My mighty rock and my refuge;
Making me His new creation,
In the midst of toil deluge.
I trust in the Lord at all times,
For I am pouring out my heart;
Who has forgiven all my crimes,
And has given me a fresh start.
