Analysis of Handicapped by societal norms

Lost in a world I didn't  opt for.
Handicapped by societal norms and expectations
Handful opportunities lurking,  but unable to fathom .

As they shout loser , loser, loser - man had no choice but to hide in the dank.

Not a drunkard but had to drink the drench in order to purge the reality but it  was to no avail since the veil came off the next day.
