Analysis of Whispers on the Wind

Can you hear the whispers of the wind?
Memories of a forgotten day,
The shadows of a lonely night,
As the sun slowly fades away.

Can you feel the breath of life?
The whispers of a gentle wind,
The moonlit skies above us all,
As the night slowly settles in.

Can you touch the water clear?
That rushes down the stream,
The vivid sounds of nature’s love,
As the night plays out its dream.

Can you feel the calming breeze?
Across your furrowed brow,
The melodic sounds of wind go by,
As the world is here and now.

Can you hear the lonely cries?
The tears that fall like rain?
A pitter-patter of the soul,
As the mists of darkness reign.

Can you feel the hope that cries?
A voice so loud and clear,
The world is filled with loneliness,
As its eyes well up with tears.

Can you hear the whispers of the wind?
Memories of a former day
The sun is shining brightly now
As the clouds begin to fade away

Can you hear the calming words?
That gives the world new hope
The dawning of a brighter day
As the world embraces hope

About this poem

I started writing this poem in the late 1990s and never was able to cobble the right words together to make it flow and give it the meaning that I knew it needed. Whispers on the wind may be memories, thoughts, inspiration, regrets...almost anything that we need to hear. What do the whispers on the wind say to you?
