Analysis of The coming of age
The coming of age
____________________________________
When nights would be crestfallen,
We'll face the hurdles of the past,
Somewhere in the youth chaotic and aghast,
How will she slumber her chest for that night,
"The other day is womanhood"- said life, And she was, there baffled by her young heart,
How'd she juxtapose her
young reveries to womanly craft?
Drinkers and dancers ushered to welcome her,
"Happy Birthday!"- said the startled world,
When the smoke of her habits went to ashtray a woman was pearled...

About this poem
This poetic epigram highlights the evolution of a girl shy to her 16th birthday where eventually she is reminded of her womanhood beckoning on her by the society. The poem sincerely recites her mayhem and the force of ageing from teenager to an adult. At the end, the poem ends harmoniously with an inspirational pat on the girl's back.
