Analysis of A Mother's Revelation

The day you were born

My life was changed forever

On that pain filled day

I learned the meaning of true love

When looked into your eyes I cried

My heart filled with overwhelming love

I'll hold you near

Try to relieve your fears

I'll hold your hand

Til you need me no more

Pick you up when you fall

Teach you how to walk tall

Be proud of who you've become

All these things for you my son

You taught me to love

Without fear of rejection

To have hope when all feels lost

Always to smile

Even when all I want to do is cry

To hold my head high

When all I can think of is death and loss

All through the days and sleepless nights

You taught me patience

You taught me to embrace the flaws

Love knows no cause

But its effects are felt by us all

About this poem

This poem was inspired by my oldest son. It applies to both my son's however. Looking back on the day of their births the pain isn't what I remember. The raw fear of bringing a human life into this world and being their everything. Thats what I remember most. The fear and then the overwhelming love and joy at finally seeing their beautiful faces for the first time. The calm that flowed over me once they were finally in my arms was surreal. The 2 best days of my life. Hands down. I love you Rufus and Ethan.

I am a proud mom of 2 wonderful son's, and 1 daughter. A very proud grandma of 2 beautiful grand-daughters and 1 fur baby. I am now 43 years old and an empty nester, who enjoys writing poems and short stories, lyric's and more. I am an avid reader of all things poetry, science fiction, fantasy, and horror. My favorite writers include Stephen King, Anne Rice, J.R. Rawlings, Dean Koontz, Shel Silverstein, Edgar Allan Poe, and more. I love the beach in the off season, when I can truly enjoy the beauty and chaos of the ocean in peace. But I don't swim in the ocean. I am disabled, but I make my way in this crazy world somehow. more…
