Analysis of Welcome Home

Who said it was time, time to move on and forget all that came before?
Who held your hand when you took the final step out the door?
Who gave you reason to hold on as long as you could?
Who gave you permission to let go and be where you should?
The final step taken, you've finally awaken and you hear the voice you've been waiting for,
Welcome home my darling, I'm glad you're here to stay,
For now it's just you and me darling but it won't forever be this way.
You'll never be alone again, you'll never be in pain again, you'll never cry for you and I are home, welcome home.
Look over here, you can see, they're all happy healthy and free, and one day they'll be here.
Until that day we can see them like before.
Look at our boys, living their dreams!
Look are our girls, stronger than they seem!
They know we're there, they feel us watching, they know one day they'll se us again, but until then,
Welcome home my darling, I'm glad you're here to stay!
For now it's just you and me darling but it won't forever be this way.
One day before long, it will seem like no time at all, we'll be here to welcome them one by one.
But until then, welcome home.

About this poem

This poem is about my parents. My father passed before my mother did and this is what I envisioned their reunion to be like.
