Analysis of This Aging Vehicle
Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)
There are times these days,
Than ever before I either ignored.
Or thought sounds to crack,
Came from the floor.
To touch.
After slowly getting out of bed.
Oh...
Dear God?
This vehicle driven I am in.
Blessed and becoming everyday aware,
That the outside of it...
May need more of my time to get started.
In the mornings when I begin,
Making attempts...
To polish and restore a youthful glow.
That took less effort so many years ago.
Seem to be making my moods,
More cranky to notice for no apparent reason.
Dear Father up above?
What's happening with that?
Please, Dear God...
Don't bombard me today with the facts.
Yet only I know,
What it takes to maneuver through...
A keeping up,
With today's fast moving traffic.
Doing it better done to stay in my own lane.
Although admittedly tempted,
To yield to a fading hot head of desires.
Believing the embers are there.
But only sparks remain of the fire.
And,
Sometimes glad I am...
Having no one,
Close or near to hear...
My complaints of aches and pains.
Kept to myself.
And not to blame,
On the obviousness that it could be the age...
Of the vehicle I am in.
Needing more than wax to polish back,
That youthful glow.
Slowing down.
Regardless of which foot I use...
To move both feet,
As fast as I can to the bathroom!
