Analysis of You Are More

You Are More

A mother, a daughter, a friend
these, the titles we are given.
Can sometimes make us feel less than
tired., exhausted, inept and driven.

But.... You are more.

Mother is not an all encompassing word
Drudgery, cleaning, diapers and aches.
Constant judging, opinions and scorn.
Feet hit the floor before anyone wakes.

It's beauty, it's hope, it's loving embraces
Hugs and cuddles and kisses and dreams
It;s knowing you'll keep going
when it's NOT peaches and cream

But...You are more

A daughter. Never feels good enough
Watching childhood dreams and ambitions roll by
Losing our loved ones to either Heaven or Earth
Anxiety mounting, always ready to cry.

But... It's so much more

A daughter. Supportive, caring and kind.
Quick to help others, slow to anger (at times)..
Witty and bright, the pride of her mom
The smile of an angel to part clouds in the skies.

But...you are more

You are my friend, my love, my heart and my joy
You can raise spirits up, ground my feet to the floor
You are sweetness [personified, I am always so proud
To call you my daughter and so much more.

When you are low, feeling less than and sad
When anxiety comes and you feel under par
Know you are treasured by all that matter
Your family, your kiddos who love you by far.

We could never do without you.

About this poem

Written for my daughter who never feels like sheis doing anything right. She is often depressed but has so many blessings I wanted to make them easier to see.
