Analysis of Breath

need no hero
need no name
no flashy colours
nor shallow, earthly fame.
honestly, do what with them?

yearnings of travels
worlds far away
and a little bird
who steeped a way
right in my core
but I pause and breathe
inhale some more

How tired would you have to get
of your own self before making a move?
Somewhere. Anywhere!
where to? nothing to prove
since it's all make-believe;
so I take a breath
sunbathe - reprieve
coffee in hand
worry-free
apparently

Resilience is what makes this
world go round or is it
Compassion?
I sink my nose in the fresh basil delight
as I used to sink it
in your velvety feathers, sunlight

such clarity at times
I could rip away the false decor -
look naturally falls into my core
and there you are!
little black eyes
looking at me
innocently
tirelessly

About this poem

A little adopted bird that totally captured my heart and a separation quite impossible to deal with.
