Analysis of Turn To Glass

Duane Loran Good 1958 (Minnesota)

You god forsaken creature, why can’t you die.
I turn around, you’re here again, stop this, I die.
Time was I didn’t know such hatred could exist.
Thank heavens you’ve defenders who know eternal bliss.
Shoot ’em up, make ’m die, tie my guts in knots.
And tonight on the news there’ll be the "wringing of the hands".
Then tomorrow we’ll move on to the next big event.
Years from now a movie will be made that tries to represent.
Not of the lives you take, but your sad turns that lead to this.
They’ll try to understand if your mommy beat you bloody.
Or you wet your pants in school as others point and laugh.
If I had my way I’d see you loved to death.
Your soul crushed with the love you stole like a used up tin can.
Your soul ripped through like the survivors of these crimes.
I’d make you hold each dying person as they take their last breath.
Looking in their eyes as their lives are fading fast.
And you’d have to dig a hole for each and every one.
Lower them down and cover them up as loved ones say their last.
Death could be your release, but I’d deny you that.
No, no, no, you’ll not get off like that.
You’ll have to relive this day until the sun turns to glass.
Eternity’s too short a time for you to repay this debt.
