Analysis of Companion

Soft green light filters to the ground
The air is thin and cool.
A teeming quietness settles
Dry pine needles send out stacattos.

A bird cries a sorrowful song
Wishing for its absent mate.
There is no reply.

Time stops,
Pupils dilate.
Breaths of fearful apprehension,
and
Restless thoughts itching in thy chest.

Grief
A silent stalker
Hovering in every corner.

A whispering wind
Carrying the words long ago spoken,  Soaring high above the ground.

I am with you.
