Analysis of I Like the Dark

Scared of the dawn
When I will have to face
Everything I've been trying to escape

Scared of the light
Cause it shows my ugly side
I can't face it, no matter how hard I try

But then the sun sets
Nothing to be scared of
My flaws can't be seen
Because the night
It hides everything

I know people say
They don’t like the dark
But I do
I know people say
They’re scared of the night
But to me, that’s not true

I like the dark
I like the night
It makes me feel safer
Than the light

Hiding my true colors
Letting me be free
I wish it was always dark
So people don't see me

About this poem

We all know people who are scared of the dark and feel more comfortable in the light. But I'm not. I am scared of the light more than I am of the dark. I like the dark.
