Analysis of I Was Sat in the Shade
I Was Sat in the Shade
I was sat in the shade
of this great large oak,
admiring its century grace
with the townsfolk.
They left me be in a while
yet I've decided to stay
with a face-long smile
shining on my face.
And through the witch-hunt
where cursed spirits deem gone,
I still felt blunt
and sat 'til dawn.
The shade felt warm,
endless thoughts cycled through
my mind. I was home,
again, in the arms of you.
The oak's millennia of wisdom
stuck in and knotted all ties,
numbing my eardrums.
They took my eyes.
I sense, though, still,
its everlasting grace,
and through eternity yet then until
I blow out, all thoughts erased.
It's standing in the shadows
at the foot of the tree
playing melodies, mellow pianos,
harps and lyres, setting me free.
Entranced by it, I surrender!
What's left beneath this crest,
I surrender! With great venture
my dollars and cents.
The Sun still shines
a hundred seconds to midnight.
Yet still, to my surprise,
I'm yet to see any light.
And now the moon, the cold and warm
is looking down on me.
And once the moon and its resort
drown angrily, I see.
It's been a while and whiles more to come,
as my decaying body's still sat.
And what is done can't ever be undone,
and let it be untapped.
I was sat in the shade
of this great large oak,
admiring its century grace
with the townsfolk.

About this poem
This one is about becoming one with nature, entrances by it to eternity and never being able to break free from its firm grip of magnificence.
