Analysis of The Black Crow

It finds you when you’re trying to sleep late at night,
You struggle tossing and turning wanting it to take flight.
It watches you even when you think you’re alone,
Constantly knocking and pecking that nagging crone.
On your shoulder twisting the words of your friends,
Just leaving you wondering when it all ends.
This black crow that only you can see,
Constantly cawing  like some twisted banshee.
You try to ignore it but it only gets louder,
Until you snap like the crack of gunpowder.
It makes you hide and drive away those you love,
Trying to fight it and you’ll be met with a shove.
A constant battle inside and out,
Losing sleep and yourself to this bout.
Wondering who the real you is inside,
Is it you or the crow that is on your hide.
Don’t call it by its name or you’ll get stares,
“It’s all in your head” even from everyone who cares.
This black crow’s proper name is depression,
You may be fine for a few days until regression.
All of your energy spent on losing this stupid bird,
Only to get your feelings twisted and slurred.
Maybe one day it will all be over,
Or will the day come when the crow does a complete take over.
“Take care of yourself, it’s not that serious!” They chant,
Oh what you would give to have that but you can’t.
It’s as much a part of you as your soul,
Constantly draining and taking it’s toll.
The black crow watches us all waiting in the background,
The moment our resolve slips it’s flapping back around.
So remember my friends one thing is true,
Everyone has a crow whether you’re black, white or blue.
