Analysis of SHAPE SHIFTER

Ray Eden 1959 (Hackney)

I bought a gram of parallelogram
And I put it up my schnoz
It honked and hawed for all aboard
And why met just because

I did dodecahedron
As a chaser, as one does
And on the fly flew right on by
And gave me quite a buzz

I followed that with octagon
Some hexagram and heart
It jangled all my triangle
And gave me such a start

I rhumba'd with some rhombus
With a twist of cone and square
Then star got cross, which was a loss
As I wasn't really there

I doubled up on diamond
And then slammed some pentagram
Went down the tubes and tried some cube
That's just the way I am

I'd a barrow full of arrow left
And so I let it slide
I fangled some rectangle
And boy, was that a ride!

Old semi-circle shook my hand
And sphere said “That's my boy!”
Then I got gone on nonagon
Which made me jump for joy

To top it off I scoffed some kite
With sweet trapezium
And then eclipse slipped past my lips
To ease the tedium.
