Viens jusqu'à notre seuil répandre
Ta blanche cendre
Ô neige pacifique et lentement tombée :
Le tilleul du jardin tient ses branches courbées
Et plus ne fuse au ciel la légère calandre.

Ô neige,
Qui réchauffes et qui protèges
Le blé qui lève à peine
Avec la mousse, avec la laine
Que tu répands de plaine en plaine !
Neige silencieuse et doucement amie
Des maisons, au matin dans le calme endormies,
Recouvre notre toit et frôle nos fenêtres
Et soudain par le seuil et la porte pénètre
Avec tes flocons purs et tes dansantes flammes,
Ô neige lumineuse au travers de notre âme,
Neige, qui réchauffes encor nos derniers rêves
Comme du blé qui lève !
