Analysis of White Rose

Amber Yurchick 1987 (Blue Hill)

Ode

This rose is white.

But I'm so blue.
Stupid me,
I'm stuck on you.

I'm told to go,
Instead, I stay.
Have no excuses;
And nothing to say.

My mind is bright;
My heart a blur.
Most people talk,
I know for sure.

Feels like I'm stuck,
I'm in too deep.
The path I chose,
Is much too steep.

I walk, I run, I trip, I fall.
I cry, I yell, I preach to all.
"Do as I say, not as I do!"
You lead the way,
I follow you.

I wipe my tears,
I take your hand.
We walk the same path;
I don't understand.

It's getting old;
I pull away.
You manipulate,
Beg me to stay.

I sit. I ponder.
What do I choose?
My heart can't heal another bruise.

About this poem

I wrote this poem after walking away from a long unhealthy relationship. These words were created to help me get through that time. They're expressions from my soul I guess you could say.
