Analysis of In my skin

I sit here wondering why. Why I’m nobody and somebody at the same time. I am asked but my answers Don’t mean anything to you but it does to me. Now I sit and cry in my skin waiting to be heard  but nobody listens.

I sit here laughing but nothing funny. My mind is riddled with many memories of good times. People around me may see me but just ignore me like I’m trapped in my skin.

In my skin I am happy and true to myself. Though I may be emotional I am strong and proud. I may be happy but also I am sad in my skin.

I will be ok knowing nobody sees me because in my skin I am like everyone in their skin alone but not alone. Happy but sad. And not seeing under their skin.

About this poem

Was sitting thinking about my brother and his journey from tragedy to depression and what he must be feeling daily. He is better now but this still fits. I dedicate this to him.
