Analysis of SOMETHING CLOSE BEHIND YOU

Danger lurking in the night
As creeping fears remind you,
Of all the things you dread the most
The something close behind you.

Walking slowly through the dark
Evil shadows leaping out,
From the loathsome thickets
Sheer terror is seeping out.

The night is the time you fear
When monstrous shrieking does resound,
And lumbering fills the darkness
As creeping fiends abound.

Something closing – upon its prey?
Keeping step with you, it seems,
A homeless hobo keeping warm?
Or creatures from your darkest dreams?

Dire fantasies filling your mind
Of dark Lovecraftian beasts,
Stalking, hunting, killing people
To partake in unholy feasts.

Footsteps following close behind
Something closing for the kill?
Do dire beasts pursue you evermore,
To achieve a monstrous thrill?

Are terrors of the night-time real
Or buried memories sent to remind you?
Of the dangers hiding everywhere
From something close behind you?

THE END
