Analysis of Almost
Eva Joy Blevins 1988 (Paramount)
Almost:
Eva Joy Blevins
I almost lost you yesterday,
The scent of you faded away.
It's been a while now,
Since I heard your laugh or seen you smile.
I almost lost you,
In all the daily struggles I've gone through.
Don't understand why it's been so long,
Still can't understand what went wrong.
I almost lost you through my tears,
Letting go is my only fear.
And something keeps my memories fresh,
Of seeing you standing there in the flesh.
But, I almost lost you none the less,
In my worries, my struggle and stress
The last words we spoke echo in my sleep,
Wake up and still I weep.
I almost lost you
As memories are fading through
It's been so long and I cannot see
Why you couldn't have stayed here with me.
Because I've lost you, I've lost a big part of me
You were the strongest part of our family
When you passed you left a hole,
Nothing can mend a broken soul.
