Vinicius de MORAES (1913-1980): Brazilian poet (essayist and playwright), born in Rio de Janeiro. He became famous for his sonnets, especially “Sonnet on Fidelity” and “Song on Separation” and also by the lyrics he wrote for many popular songs, including “The Girl from Ipanema” (together with Antonio Carlos Jobim; English lyrics by Norman Gimbel).
