Poems »

Ogden Nash (1902-1971) was, during his lifetime, the most well-known American writer of light verse, and his popularity has continued after his death. His witty style has been imitated by many, but none have quite equalled the old master.

John Lithgow does a marvelous recitation of the Ogden Nash poem "No Doctor Today, Thank You".

Back in the day when my clasmates and myself used to read poetry out loud in front of our pupils. I always liked Ogden Nash's poems. I kept one of the school books called New Poems For The Grades for the eighth grade by W.H. Sadlier, Inc. and Copyright 1969 by William H. Sadlier, Inc. These poems were selected and arranged by a Committee of The Sisters of St. Joseph , Chesnut Hill, Pennsylvania. I also have in my collection, Ogden Nash's books: Vesrus (1949) and Many Long Years Ago (1945).
