Poems »

I was born in 1984, in McComb, Mississippi. I took to writing at a young age and made my own serial character by the age of six, and it wasn't long before my classmates would come to me asking what new stories I had written.Whenever I got the opportunity I took Creative Writing and English classes, but having an abusive father made me insecure about my own gifts and over time I drifted away from writing around the age of 19.When I returned to writing, later, in college. My work took a more ironic approach and humor. I usually prefer to pack depth into simplicity.Although some of my poems are purely fun, sometimes my more serious poems are mistaken for fun because of light hearted metaphores used for dark subjects, and it's extremely rare that I write long poems (I don't think it's necessary). I try to say what I want by tailoring lines to mean a lot in a few words. I also like to experiment with rhythm and design.Even though I usually think a lot about each line, sometimes I just write as it comes to me.
