Losing our sisterhood

“Leaving on a jet plane.”
We couldn’t sing it loud enough.
That dirt patch we swung on
For our trip to anywhere
Growing together
So different yet so the same
Gathering our strengths
To get through the pain
For our trip to anywhere
Growing separately

Paths becoming desperation
We dropped hands
No longer sharing plans
For our trip to anywhere
Growing apart

Children born, new families made
Losing our sisterhood
Hiding our deepest truths
For our trip to anywhere
Growing scared
Wasted years without a shoulder
Our searching souls now bolder
We wandered away
For our trip to anywhere
Growing lonely

Through yells and tears
We made it back
Judgements dropped
For our trip to anywhere
Growing once again

Shedding fears, and walls
Learning of one another
Building from a new start
For our trip home
Growing in love
