A Simple Ball

A simple ball
It was my birthday today
And I got a basketball,
I was so upset, that was all.

I wanted something big,
Something cool and something tall,
Because a basketball wouldn't do the job at all.

Why can’t I get more,
Something expensive, unique, different and excessive.

But that’s all I got,
1 basketball, anyone can get it,
It costs nothing at all.

But I used it everyday,
Played with all,
My friends and my family,
And even my dog.

On this years birthday,
I got something tall, something unique,
Something different and excessive and all,
But it laid there, sitting on the shelf stuck to my wall.

I realized that the basketball holds all my memories,
My exceptional times, and moves, and defences.
Who knew a basketball was so much,
That it was more, and more than enough.

Now I go into my birthday,
Wanting nothing at all,
Because whatever I have,
Means everything, everything at all.

I get a hug from my parents,
and we play with the same ball,
That I had once gotten,
And haven’t forgotten at all.

Something so small, cheap, and common,
Could have such a big impact in my life,
I realized that that basketball,
Was worth it, it was worth the price.

It made me happy,
And made me remember,
That a simple ball,
Can have worth, which I wouldn’t forget at all.
