Joint family

Yearning to grow up
Emulating the elders
Dominating out thoughts
Future security sought

Living the present forgot
Enjoying it for all it's got
Not realizing it wont last
Very soon to become the past

Joint family gods gift
Many people definitely a rift
Equality and equanimity taught
Joy's of oneness
Differences lost

Ideal place for study
Educate you people ready
Characters you observe
Realise in life you have to deserve

Multiple personalities
Varying modalities
Adjust your sensibilities
Respect the formalities

Elders taught respect
Live with love and be honest
Same treatment for all
Trained you for the world at large

Everything done with passion
Learnt many a lesson
Guidance provided
Character developed

Concept of sharing
Under the sun everything
Developing the spirit
For you to learn it

Future arrived
Miss the past
God gave you all
Grateful that we have memories to fall

Men worked hard
Women sacrificed for what
Your life in their heart
No one set apart

Newspaper and Washroom
All in one bedroom
Emotional connect
Most important in life

Didn't realise it then
One in a million
A chance to grow
In that household
Where oneness was the foundation
Happiness the highest education

Seeking outside
Biggest mistake
For some to make
What's given no choice but to take

Family the essence
Filled with everyone's presence
Taking into account preference
Satisfying every member
Each act a penance
