Yet to Fall

The flooding of our greenery
The hardening of time
Suffocates the livelihood
And robes us of those dreams-
That made life seem worth living
That gave a smile a cause
But rain is biased reasoning
It wants only to give
Yet some days though the clouds are full
Not a drop will fall
Then we try to bargain with,
Things we know not of
And green as hope could seem
It itself was not,
Capable of growing in those shaded realms
That we carved to capture rain
That still has yet to fall.
