Yearnings

He reached out and picked up a flat rock,
and skittered it over the pond.
The cattle would be here by nightfall,
he wouldn't be alone very long.
But it gave him some time to ponder,
on things that he hadn't done.
And a life that caused him to wander,
and a yearning for things to call home.
A house and a wife,maybe children,
a mailbox for letters to come.
Some chickens and kittens to look at,
and a dog who would come on the run.
Didn't seem like,God,much he was asking,
for a house and a place to call home,
A womans love now everlasting,he don't want to die all alone.
