The Short Story of Jane and Jonah

"My, oh, my!"
the little boy cried.
"What has happened as I was inside?"

"Why, nothing, really,"
the little girl said.
"The sky is still blue and your truck is still red."

the little boy wondered and thought out loud:
"But how could that be! Something has changed. Am I the only one that sees what has been rearranged?"

"See what?"
the little girl answered, for she was truly confused.

"I am surprised you don't see it!"
the little boy said, amused.
a smile on his lips, caring in his eyes. the little girl couldn't take it! for she wanted to know the surprise.
the little boy bent down and picked a pink rose.
he looked at her in the eyes.
he needed her to know.

he gave her the flower so gingerly and free.

"It's very unmistakable. Why can't you see?"
he looked deeper into her eyes, lost in such bright blues.
"You are so much more beautiful," he blushed "more so than love's muse!"
and innocent love danced away into the sunlight.

and the storybook closed.
