Tension At The Pumps

I sense tension at the pumps,
people's eyes transfixed and glazed.
And anger and frustration,
keep faces flush and eyebrows raised.

As the nozzle spews fuel,
it's hard to contain their rage.
And they curse under their breath,
at the numbers on the gage.

Once they near gave it away,
but in those days folks had class.
And tempers flare when governments
add taxes to expensive gas.

Siphoning cash from everyone,
speculators rob at will.
For stock markets set the price,
not caring who foots the bill.
