Sober

Her bottle lies broken in pieces on the floor,
She wonders why no one comes around anymore.
Her heart is drowning in a sea of alcohol,
Her throat burns like she just huffed aerosol.
Both arms extend too short to reach out,
In everyone else she saw the reasons to doubt.

Let her down easy or throw her down hard,
Each deception is like driving another shard
Of this broken vodka bottle going straight to the heart,
Piercing through her feelings from end to start.
Don't bother taking a breath to look in through her window,
While she's tormented and her soul's in limbo.
Four bottles later and three months sober,
But too late for her to wish she can start over.
