Missing Audience

I often
wonder
if it would be a strange thing
for the world to lose its light
or if it would even notice
it mightn't
i imagine not, but hope so
could it already be out
snuffed like a small fire
leaving only ghostly whisping
entrails of the flame
blown out like a birthday candle
of some forgotten year
like nine or fourteen
has there ever even been a light
or is that an idea so fake
like a birthday
should the world care
that its audience can't title the show
will the world mind
when it has lost its actors
or might the world just wait
a few years longer
for a newer crowd
