Jaded Tears

Sometimes late at night, when all the world is still
The silence that consumes my soul, leaves me unfulfilled.
I often wonder who I am
If this is all there is
Trapped within these lonely walls, of my own abyss.
I reflect on past mistakes, for they are everywhere
Looking through the looking glass
I see a soul laid bare.
Why does love have to hurt
It fills my soul with pain
All consuming, ever looming
Have I gone insane.
Slight of hand, trickery
This inner voice that mocks me
Telling me to trust again
For this one will end differently.
And though my heart still longs to dance
I'm frozen by my fear
I don't believe in fate or chance
Only jaded tears.
