illusion

With a whisper it calls your name,
one more thing done and no more shame,
one more thing done and then you can rest,
and I will save you from lifes stress.
Promises every day the voice makes,
once drawn in your energy it takes.
You are home, to a place so well known,
feels so firmiliar down to every bone.
How did we get here your spirit circles out,
your sanity you begin to doubt.
It was that voice that promised you peace,
the pain you hoped it would cease;
pain from chaos swirling your mind,
to the beauty in life it keeps you blind,
until one day you say no more,
and begin to stop your internal war.
After clearing the wreckage of your past,
a new voice will appear at last.
An illusion is the name of the voice you heard first,
real peace and serenity I know you do thirst.
Realized not by chasing the lie,
that will never end until you die.
Forgiving yourself and others for deeds done,
will free your mind to soak up the magnificent sun.
Prayer and meditation provide another choice
to listening to that first voice.
So when the illusion appears and says follow me,
say no thanks, I now have the tools to be free.

ashley palmer

so I have been writing poems since I was ten. I was always good in english. I dont tend to write about happy things because Id rather talk about them than write them down. My poetry is my way of expressing myself and an escape for me. I will write about my past relationships and drug use and the death of my brother mostly. Hope you enjoy it, if not I do =] more…
