Icy Blue

“Icy Blue, please tell us you’ll stay true—
don’t leave so soon, we will need you.
You may not be one of the original nine,
but we see you as an integral piece to our design.”

I am not part of the ordinary so cast me out.
Not to be trusted, so ante up your doubts.

I spin here uncontrollably in the same cycle,
attempting to ascend this black hole of denial.

I’m surrounded and terrorized by my misfortune,
at too great a distance to meditate with the sun.

Neptune will pass near me every once in a while.
It’s upsetting he isn’t able to muster a simple smile.

I feel that my opportunity is much overdue,
but they always tell me…

“Icy Blue, please tell us you’ll stay true—
don’t leave so soon we will need you.
You may not be one of the original nine,
but we see you as an integral piece to our design.”

I have yet to be correctly defined
What do you mean I’m not the correct size?

My apologies for not amounting to your expectations.
Surely you can forgive me, I had no say in my creation.

I was under the impression I held at least an ounce of importance.
I used to be young, I was loved; naive and innocent.

Shooting stars will pass near me every once in a while.
It’s upsetting they aren’t able to muster a simple smile.

I feel that my existence is much overdue,
but they always tell me…

“Icy Blue, please tell us you’ll stay true—
don’t leave so soon we will need you.
You may not be one of the original nine,
but we see you as an integral piece to our design.”
