Glass Prison
If you ever feel down
Lost or frightened or if you daren't make a sound
Play this sweet lullaby
For I am with you darling please don't cry
I'll wipe away your tears
Take away and swallow your deepest fears
Your small delicate hand
And fingernails as small as a grain of sand
You are yet only an egg shell
So small and fragile, if I were to drop you I'd go to hell
But if only I could hold you, once more
Isn't that what mothers are for?
Seal us together with a hug so tight
Kiss you hold you all through the night
That glass prison which surrounds my little one
And tubes that come from here and there, that can't be too fun
All I want to do is hold your sweet precious head
And place you in my arms, rock you to sleep and put you to bed
But shielding you from my warmth and protection
Is that disgusting glass prison, where I may only see you and my reflection
A reflection of a mother so lost and dire
Her heart slowly dying and her anger on fire
The corridor echoes beeping, bleeping and a telephone ring
I ask myself, how could god do such a thing?
Let a child so sweet have their life on a wire
Whoever said God was so nice is a liar
All desperate mothers, God is who we turn too
But we may say bad but we don't have a clue on what to do
At times like this all we can do is wish
To have with our child just one final kiss
