For Carl

Into the night with a final sigh
Carl drifted away
The angels came and lifted him up
He soars to a brighter day

For up in heaven he feels no pain
He's protected by our Lord
Now he can laugh and smile again
As his new home he begins to explore

It's a time like this we must celebrate
The precious life he lead
All the warmth he brought to our hearts
Was never left unsaid

Although we feel sadness and sorrow too
We simply cannot dwell
We have to embrace the happy times
We remember oh so well

Now he spends his time looking down at us
No longer having to fight
Our hearts and our minds will be at ease
Because Jesus is holding him tight

Most of my poetry came from my past relationships. I generally write when I'm down and out but would really like to change that. I want to start writing again and work on becoming a better poet. Its a great form of release for me - similar to meditation (which I certainly can't do!) Hope you enjoy. more…
