Daydreaming in sepia and monochrome
This wisteria bedecking my memories
Belongs around someone's front door.
The hawthorn blossom flowering in my thoughts
Should be in a hedgerow out on a moor.
The daffodils blooming in memory
Could flourish in a pot on a sill.
The primroses populating my conscience
Would look better on the bank of a rill.
The periwinkles peopling my brain cells
Ought to be planted 'neath a sycamore's boughs.
What good are hollyhocks in my skull?
Put them outside a farmer's house.
I've planned many different gardens
And they flower now and again.
The soil's not as rich in fact
As that which I keep in my brain.
