Dancing Till Dawn

Remember when we lived the life,
of teens who rattled cages;
We drove furiously through each town at night,
as if we were simply ageless;
Our lipstick red and dresses pink,
our hair swept up in curls;
It wasn't long before we felt,
like wild and crazy girls;
We stopped in a place we'd come to know,
as one big party with music till dawn;
We held hands as we entered the club,
and gasped at its fancy floor;
The tiles glistened black and white,
with silver surrounding the door;
One fellow came and talked to me,
we laughed and drank some beer;
Then we stepped onto the shiny tiles,
and kicked up our heels in synch;
The music was so lively and loud,
it was great fun for us to see;
How much we could enjoy ourselves,
not sitting home to watch TV;
But somehow the lights began to dim,
and we slumped into the booth;
My pal and I began to feel,
the plain and awful truth;
That when morning comes and we're not home,
the folks will be mighty sore;
so we took one last fling to Elvis,
and pranced out that silver door !
