Broken

He laid broken in the hospital bed.
Remembering the words his friend has said.
Pull up on your rope. Get your spurs in his hide.
Hold on for dear life, that bull is hard to ride.
Out the gate he went spinning so fast.
Finally the loud buzzer sounds at last.

Eight seconds was all he needed to stay.
As he hits the ground, he hears the crowds hurray.
Wait what's that sound he hears at his back.
Look out that bull's coming to attack!

He dances with the beast for a minute.
Then runs for the shoot to try to get in it.
But safety he finds just a little too short.
Up in the air he goes like a champagne's cork.

When he hit the ground he did not know.
The world around him had lost its lighted glow.
Now he awakes in the hospital bed.
Remembering the words his friend had said.
