Await
I turn the shell in the palm of my hand
I skip stones into the bay
I sit on the ground in the golden-grey sand
Waiting for it to turn day
I live by the edge of the Chesapeake Bay
I live with my toes in the water
I can't see but a brining tide
Born a fisherman's daughter
I sit await
I wait for day, when
I will see
My father.
