Asylum - Part 1

A love derived from my lunacy
Is what I know I'm surely soon to see
For like clumsy hands to the noxious glass
I reach out, clueless, in front of me
Pierced is the flesh of the desolate one
My eyes not but closed, I am blind
That is the love of a veritable state
And also of one that's unkind
As the shards sink and puncture
Deep to the core
I once more must ignore what ails
Steadfast my thoughts
Of the heart and its cost
For which I indeed mustn't fail
The abrasion within is surely deep
Through the time I long wait I am drawn
The pangs so persist as I wish we'd exist
And it feeds even more now she's gone
The doctor tells me I will be alright
Words of comfort as he leaves down the hall
I smile to those thoughts so merrily
As I stare at the soft, padded wall
