Ask Me
You saw something in my eyes
I no longer could disguise
A history that still haunts me
Continues on as it shall be
I'm afraid of who I am
No one ever gave a d*mn
But what it is you clearly see
You look beyond and just ask me
I have lost my only path
Nothing left in me but wrath
Gave up so very long ago
Lost all of my inner glow
Yet standing at the ocean shore
It left me once again as more
For a time had peace of mind
To all my past at last was blind
Somewhere within my very soul
You saw me briefly as a whole
As if it was your given task
All you did was simply ask
Fear took me over once again
And I allowed it to just win
Agony about the truth
The thief of all my inner youth
The walls that I now daily build
As my mind is slowly killed
Doing everything I can
From life itself I simply ran
I can hide what's really true
From everyone it seems but you
To you I am an open book
All you have to do is look
When you ask the reason why
Inside I truly start to die
I want it all to finally end
How can I tell you my dear friend
So I push it all away
Praying there is were it stay
Long ago I quit the fight
Locking out all of the light
Where exactly are you from
Why to my life did you come
Challenging me on my past
To face the truth of it at last
Did you ever even know
When we speak I let more go
Every sight I see unwind
All because you have been kind
So few in life left I can trust
But with you it seems I must
You already see so clear
All my hate, anger and fear
So my heart and soul cry out
What on earth brought this about
And honestly it came to be
All because you just ask me.
