As Gentle As Rapture

Angelic virtue swept into soft scenes
as wings of opportunity opened
their wild feathered plumes; hot, blue and righteous,
songs of yesterday rippled into love.
The high road hit swift feet while petition
begged forgiveness for all dark ruffled sins,
sweet humble honesty paused for awhile,
bended emotions, good God living sighs,
wrapped joy up inside the curve of a smile.

Pride plucked the spirit and stripped it away,
laid bare to the eyes of divinity -
dusted experience was washed by rain,
as gentle as rapture in a calm dream;
ready to explode into insight's scent.
And here I am now, further down time's lanes,
laughter saturates the bold somersaults,
happy life's harmony rocks me awake
as I gather humanity's flowers.

There are dead eyes to brighten with a kiss,
souls wracked by anguish who need to be free,
I will find them and side-step the night's ice,
then spill the future's pursed lips like petals.
You'll catch my trail in dawn's early light
while the spheres of ecstasy roll up tears,
perhaps I'll double back and visit you
as rhythms of personality swerve
through the domains of misery's garden.
