Application

4 years.
Blood sweat and tears.
Sitting on our asses
In the boringest
Of classes
Sports, clubs, activities
Our schedules are jammed
Overworked, with no sleep
But it's what
They demand
Every life lesson from
All our busy summers
Doesn't effect the calculation
Of that single number
Kids will do anything
To get a 4.0
Cheat, steal, or lie
Where did our morals go?
They have taken them away
There's no time for play
Any more
Only time to get stuff done
Only time to work real hard
No time for having fun.
Some of us don't
Even get to eat
Our day is so damn full
With illustrious AP

But what are we learning?
Anything, at all?
Or are we just cramming
For that test in the fall?
And why don't have the time
To be creative, to explore?
Life is either one big emergency
Or a giant bore
And so now we can forget
Everything we know
Because we passed that's
All that matters
We can just let it go
Every experience we've had
Up until this junction
Every formula we've learned
Every book, lab or function
We can throw away
We won't need them later
Because the only thing
That matters now
Is one sheet of paper.

Hey, some of these aren't that great but what the heck. I just like writing how I feel in the moment so some of my poems might be confusing because I was confused in that moment. Maybe thats why I wanted to write a poem, to sort out my thoughts. Anyway, just read them and hopefully just one of them will bring you some kind of joy, or make you feel some kind of connection. Peace.>>>I also do star photography - probably why space works its way into a lot of my writing. http://mcb-photography.blogspot.com/ more…
