America Attacked
On Wednesday morn the news was hot,
“Watch the telly see what you've got!!”
With disbelief I turned it on,
What a catastrophe a world gone wrong!!
War it seemed -USAis attacked,
The tradeFairTowerswere fully packed,
Two huge jets struck the buildings-tall,
Thousands engulfed in flames -while others fall.
Hijacked planes with passengers on board,
Planned suicide missions - how the terrorists scored!
Viewing each crash and the damage done,
Who's to blame - yes who is the one?
Graphically the horror was instantly displayed,
Fatal and tragic were the decisions made,
Incineration or death what a harrowing choice,
Cries for help no-one hearing each voice.
Jumping to doom while the building burned,
From this incident how much was learned,
Nowhere is safe with attacks like this,
There're no scruples with the perpetrators kiss.
Even the Pentagon was engulfed in flames,
Hundreds died some well known names,
A third plane had struck that place,
Sad but true and an utter disgrace.
The White House a target but didn't get hit,
Passengers were courageous - did their bit,
Stormed the hijackers bought the plane down,
Lost their lives on the scorched earth - brown.
The Towers collapsed seven buildings were dust,
Firemen and police followed those they trust,
Trying to save lives - they lost their own,
Adding to numbers that steadily have grown.
About this poem.
This was written soon after the attack as mentioned.
It shocked everyone It was impossible to describe this situation
and it's effect on the world. Nowhere was safe and with perpetrators
like this we all had to review our thinking. There would be retribution
but where and when; ultimately the effect on the world had later
to be seen.”
