Age of Attrition

Alone I was once again,
It happened every now and then.
For in this world you can not seek,
Because what you find may be bleak.

I walk this lonely road,
No sounds at all no man's abode.
I ask you this whom it may concern,
Was it worth it? Did you get what you yearn?

Now the streaks of bodies show the price,
Of the wealth and power you sufficed.
The ones I loved fought for you,
They died in vain, in pain for you.

I'll end this off with an ode to God,
As he will save me from this facade.
Though I will not wait til my time has come,
I'll leave this Earth with the setting sun.
